about me

Well, I love baking... What can I say. That's one thing that is never going to change. I have, however, undergone a lot of change in my life recently. My amazing hubby and I have been married 3 years. I love adventure and anything that challenges my thinking and physical ability. I have been a medical esthetician for almost 9 years, but the adventure in me decided to join the Air Force Reserves, and I recently transferred from there to the Minnesota Air National Guard. I'm a ems medial technician within the Air Force. I went through basic training in 2008 at 28 years old- I was the oldest out of 47 girls... and in better shape than almost all of the girls younger than me... How sad is that? lol. It has really changed my life for the better. I thank God that I have the strength in myself through Jesus to do this. My husband has been in the Air Force for 11 years and I thought it would be fun (considering my boredom with my career, physical workout routine and life in general....) to have this in common with the hubby. Being apart for over a year (having only been married a year) was difficult- but my husband is amazing- and for that... I am truly blessed.

Having recently finished my very long training away from home for over a year- I have decided to pursue my #1 passion in life as a full time career. I own my own photography business called "Ruby Lee Photography"- and am in love. I'm a one man show- unless it's a large wedding in which I hire my best friend as a second shooter. Rochelle is stunning and has amazing talent, as she is also a professional photographer I have been doing photography 'professionally' for 3 years but decided to take a very vulnerable plunge into the competitive world in which photographers reside. I shoot in a documentary or 'lifestyle' photo-journalism style. I shoot portraits, weddings, senior photos, children... Etc. I also sell a lot of my commercial work printed on (large scale) gallery wrapped canvas. The recipes on my site are almost 100% my very own creations. I love to do the whole "trial and error" thing... you know... make 15 Lemon Pound Cakes in one flippin' day... just to get it right. So, any questions or comments you have, I thrive on feedback. I am a stickler for perfection, and if there is that 'one thing' missing in a recipe, it goes without saying that I'll keep doing it till I think it's right. So- any suggestions, dish it to me. (sadly- that pun was intended...)

I have so many passions in life... Being a wife, a Makeup Artist (10 years), a photographer (just got a brand new Cannon 30D) a baker, a chef, a Medical Esthetician, an Airman in the Air Force Reserves, Painter and all things artistic...

Favorite Foods:

CUPCAKES (they are my signature desert), any mini version of anything- mini cheesecakes, tarts...anything tiny. I love 'tasters'... love to make them even more than I love to eat them. Being a woman- Obviously I love anything chocolate- milk or white. I love pasta, pizza... Pretty much anything Italian or Mexican... chicken (of course), anything where eclectic flavors mingle with each other... I like to experiment with different infusions. I love sweet and salty combo's... and I am most into baking right now. I love a good top sirloin steak- Medium Rare... I pretty much love all food... I don't, however, do olives, Alfredo sauce, beats, cauliflower, green bean casserole, tater-tot hot dish, or macaroni and cheese- no matter HOW homemade it is....
