I live in LA and I love everything to do with food; Farmer's Markets, wine pairings, making dinner every night, grocery shopping, coupon clippling. I still swear by Craig Claiborne's NY Times Cookbook. I collect cookbooks (over 500) that I have acquired at Book Fairs. It's fun to peruse a cookbook for ideas and inspiration. Then I put the book down and make it myself.
I have worked in the restaurant business for many years; Hostess, Waitress, Manager, General Manager, Special Events Director (gave my first Miramax Oscar winning party this year for Tsotsi), Catering Director, E Marketing Director, Search Engine and Website Optimizer (restaurants only) and now I am trying to become a mom.
I am famous for Sunday chicken, rice and salad; whole roasted chicken stuffed with an onion and apple quartered sprinkled with Lawry's season salt, granulated garlic. fresh ground pepper and paprika. I love all kinds of rice - Spanich, saffron, long grain and wild, and a big salad with romaine, tomato, cucumber, broccoli, low fat shredded cheese and one piece of bacon. I make my own salad dressing with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, garlic, dijon mustard and salt and pepper. The smell of the sizzling bacon gets them to the table for salad and then I don't put dinner out for 10 minutes - so they eat a lot of salad. I make it every Sunday to get a good meal in us to start the week.
