I now live in Indianapolis, I use to work in Chicago IL. as a receptionist. I worked at ALAS Inc since Sept 2, 2003 until I lost my job on April 27th, 2009. I'm divorced with 4 grown kids, and 9 grand kids, number 9 just arrived on January 26th. Christopher George Shoulders weighed in at 7 lbs 4 oz, 21 1/2" long. He looks a lot like his daddy Chris. I won't be able to see him until Easter weekend, that's the only time I can take off work, new boss lady, new office rules. Oh well such is life. At least I am still working.
My 3 oldest kids, 2 girls and 1 boy all live in Indianapolis about 15 minutes from each other and my youngest son just moved into his own home in Crown Point, Indiana and is now engaged. This will be the first time in my entire life that I won't have anyone around, no husband, no kids, no pets allowed where I live( no high electric bills or outrageous phone bills, no computer left on all night, no stinky socks left out all over the place, and no dirty dishes piling up high in the sink, (I can live with that). But, also no one to talk to when I come home at night except the TV. Unfortunately. I had to let my son go so I could grow up. Lately I've been doing a lot of reading, sewing and trying to cook for just myself and getting pretty good at reading and sewing. LOL!! The cooking however I would rate myself at about a C+ +
I've been experimenting with every recipe from Zaar that was low in calories that I could find. If the ingredients are something I had on hand and if it didn't costs a lot to make it then I would try to make it for myself. On the weekends if my son is off work, I'll head over to his new place for a visit, I keep telling TJ that I am here to visit the newest member of our family "ISIS", his kitten who is no longer a kitten. ISIS was way too young to be weaned off her mommy when she was left at the Humane Society. She still loves to suckle on anything she can get her mouth on. Right now it's Liz's black furry bedroom slipper. My son and his fiance have tried to wean her off the slipper because she started tearing up everything when they were out. Lately they gave up and gave her back the slipper. Once I find the picture of ISIS and her best friend the "black furry bedroom slipper", then I will post it. Two months ago, they had her spayed and de-clawed and now she's just a very playful fat cat which we still spoil like she was human, which sometimes I think she is because of the way she talks/meows to us and has to have her own pillow in between TJ & Liz at night to sleep with them. Now I buy toys for ISIS and make baby quilts for my newest grandson, If I knew how to post his picture I would. That is something I will learn how to do later. August 10, 2008, I was finally Baptized and joined the local Christian Church in my town, I've accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and boy have I ever noticed a change not only in myself but everyone around me. I smile more, laugh more, and pray every morning and instead of talking to the TV I now talk to God as if he was in the same room with me. I also socialize more now than when I was married. God is of course always with me, having Faith in something you can't see, or touch has been very difficult for me. But my life is finally working for me. And it's all because of God. I've made so many friends at Church that I never want to be without them. Now if I can only bring my son around which may take some doing, but I never give up. ![]()
Just recently I have signed a 1 year lease at my new place and will have my daughter Heather and 2 of her 6 kids living with us. Nick and Naya will be with me and my daughter and the other 4 kids on the weekends, if their dad will stop being a brat about me seeing my grandkids.
I'll keep praying on that one.
Prayer really helps me get through the days and especially the nights. I have to get to know my daughter all over again which will be very hard for the both of us. Say a prayer for us, we are like 2 bees in the same hive, always arguing and never really getting along. But at least I am giving this move 1 year to try and get my daughter back on her feet. I hope it works out for us.
I love this website and everyone on here is so helpful. There are so many wonderful recipes on here, you can't go wrong. As long as I can cook, bake and sew, I promise not to go stir crazy. LOL!
My favorite foods to make are probably my Grandma's Bread pudding with her Hot Buttered Rum sauce. Her unsweetened cornbread cooked in a cast iron skillet. Grandma's Cinnamon Pie and my other Grandma's Swedish pancakes with the Lingenberry preserves and powdered sugar on top. I really love my Aunt Maralees stuffed cabbage, and my mom's hamburger goulash. These foods always bring back a lot of great memories. I love Apple Bees in Indiana, frequent there a lot with my friends, they now have a weight watchers menu which I order from at every visit. Just figured out how to use my Regal bread machine, so I'm now making a lot of homemade breads instead of spending my hard earned money at the store on breads.
