about me

I love to cook....I love it when a recipe comes together and I love creating my own masterpieces.
I come from a large family where "food" was the focal point of our gatherings. I am the only girl out of 6 children, and I must admit, 2 of my brothers outdo me quite a bit, but I can hold my own. Baking is my favorite kitchen pasttime. I firmly believe that food should look as good as it tastes, so I take a lot of time in presentation. My mother is from the south, so its understandble that "soul food" cooking comes easiest. I would watch as she prepared meals, peeping from the edge of the table, so now, I love to have my 2 year old granddaughter in the kitchen with me. She loves to help and this is where it begins. My 3 daughters have a minimal interest in cooking, but since they have married, I get constant calls for advice and method. I enjoy this website and use it often to try new things. I adore Patti Labelles cookbook...her recipes are fabulous! I do catering on a small scale and hope to one day go professional.

Favorite Foods:

I am a "baked goods" fanatic ! Cheesecakes are my specialty....fixing and eating. Whenever there is a special ocassion, I am always designated for the macaroni and cheese....never made a bad batch!
I love making seafod salads...blending various seafoods to make a mouthwatering combination which is great in the summertime.I love breads....rolls, muffins, biscuits....all! Haven't quite mastered them yet, but I keep working at it.
