I love internationally inspired foods--Asian, Mexican, Italian, Cuban, etc. To me, travel equals FOOD.
And I avoid lowfat substitutions or fake sweeteners--yuck. Give me moderate quantities of the real thing.
Southern: fried catfish/grits, shrimp gumbo, pinto beans, cornbread and greens, fried chicken and buttermilk biscuits
Asian: Korean BBQ, sesame noodles, sweet and sour, fried rice
Cuban: fried plantains, Cuban bread, black beans, cafe con leche
American: STEAK and mashed potatoes
I like to whip up things out of an (apparently) empty pantry.
