I live in San Jose, California and I love to cook. I am semi-retired so now I have lots of time to cook. I try out new recipes on my dad but he doesn't like anything spicy and hot the way I do so I have to keep the heat down. I have two boys that visit me occasionally and I usually cook too much for them. I started cooking my own breakfast when I was eight. I didn't start cooking seriously until I got James Beard's American Cookery cookbook in the '70's. Now I watch The Food Network Channel, PBS cooking shows, and Recipezaar to get some ideas on what to make for dinner.
I like Southern, Cajun, Italian, Asian, and foods. I actually will eat almost anything, but bugs. Well, I never had fried grasshoppers or chocolate covered ants. I hear they are good for you.
I make a mean andouille and chicken jambalaya and a killer seafood gumbo. My favorite Cajun Store is: http://www.pochesmarket.com
I'm learning how to bake and make desserts now. This is not good for me, I know, I am a diabetic now, but if I only take a little it will be ok, yes? Yeah, like that's gonna happen.
