about me

I was born and raised in Pensacola, FL. My husband and I have been married for 37 years and we own and operate a heavy duty towing business 24 hours a day. We're celebrating our 30th year in business. I have many hobbies but little time to develope them to their fullest. My favorite is painting and photography. For fun, when we can get away from the business, is to take our boat out to Ft McRae island and spend the night. Since we live near the beaches, I have a lot of photo opportunities and art projects. My family and friends are my passion and I enjoy getting together with them and cooking for them, too. My pet peeves are people who are rude and inconsiderate of other's feelings. I don't have a favorite cookbook. There are too many that I use all the time, especially some of my mother's and grandmother's old recipe books. Those are timeless. But I do love Paula Deen, Rachel Ray, Emeril, recipes from the Food Network, RecipeZaar, and a Diabetic cookbook I used when caring for my mother. I also watch the Food Network shows late at night since I miss them in the day time while working.

Favorite Foods:

After making a decision to cook with a healthier way of eating, I've lost 50 lbs in a year by simply changing the way I cook and the choices of the foods. My favorite foods are salads. I can make them into a meal in a variety of ways. (even at the fast food places) Anything I used to eat on a bun or as a sandwich, I can now turn it into a salad or eat it on a fat free pita or tortilla. I love to cook grilled chicken, fish, and steak recipes. And I usually steam spinach to use with most of my meals. I still cook all my husband's favorite meals but adjust mine to low fat, low carb, and less salt. It works out just fine and I don't miss any of the gooey breads, cheeses, and sauces I used to eat.
