Hello from Japan! My husband Jeff and I have been here for a year now. It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen! Jeff works long hours at a chip fab here in Aizu so I am free to entertain myself sometimes longer than I care to. I was able to bring my three siamese cats with me so they are my constant companions. Just before I left Austin, Texas, my home town, I took lessons at a local bead shop in jewelry making techniques. Now I can make pretty much anything I see in magazines or in stores. This keeps me busy all day long. I also keep a blog on Myspace to keep the family and friends informed. So much easier than sending emails with photos attached. We have traveled as much as we could and posted many pics and tales of our adventures (or misadventures!)I am not sure how much longer Jeff's work will keep us here but I am loving every minute!
My favorites here in Japan are Korean style BBQ. Not anything like Texas BBQ. I serve a lot of sushi and sashimi. The rice here is incredible. I have eaten more rice here than I did my entire life before we came here. I have learned to make some incredible riceballs. Things I miss from Texas are STEAK! The steak served here is about 1/2 to 3/4" thick. Highly marbled with fat. Just give me a 1 1/2" Tbone!
