I recently graduated from college and have just moved to Naples, FL. I am originally from Pittsburgh and still consider that to be home, but I am so far enjoying the warmth and beaches here! In my free time other than going to the beach I like to do yoga, go horseback riding, read, and jog.
I began cooking during a blizzard in Colorado where I went to college. I realized I wasn't going to make it home to spend Christmas with my family and the thought of not having any Christmas cookies was too much. Luckily there was a grocery store across the street I could walk to because all of the roads were closed. I stocked up on ingredients and after about 12 attempts I had my cookies! Since then all I can think about is what I am going to cook or bake next. I know most people prefer or are better at one or the other but I think I am pretty even on both. My favorite part about cooking is making food for company. In college I started pasta Wednesday's where friends would come over for a dinner party and I would cook a different pasta every week. We always had the best time and I loved knowing that I was giving everyone the best meal they were probably going to have that week, and I know that they all appreciated it as well.
Dessert is my favorite part of the meal (like many people I am sure) and I try to make something for dessert one or two nights a week, whether it is just fruit and some cream and sugar or something more elaborate. Recently I have started cake decorating classes and have had a lot of fun showing off that talent for anyone who is having a birthday or some kind of celebration.
Recipezaar has been a great place for me to learn and most of the time I spend on the internet is on this website.
I try to rate recipes in as much detail as possible, but sometimes there isn't a lot to say except that it was good! Also, I will give recipes ratings from 1-5 stars.I realize that this hurts some chefs feelings, but I like to give a true assessment so that is helpful to myself (in the future) and other chefs. It is nothing personal!! My rating system is:
5 Stars: A-plus couldn't do anything to make it better and will make again.
4 Stars: Really enjoyed but will make a small change or two if I make again.
3 Stars: Came out ok but didn't suit my tastes and probably won't make again.
2 Stars: Recipe didn't work out.
1 Star: There is something wrong with the recipe as it is printed.

Cheese, chocolate, pasta of any kind, popcorn, breakfast pastries (mainly croissants and scones!), buffalo chicken, macaroons, and I love coffee and am a tea-aholic!
