about me

Thanks for checking out my about me page. Jeff is my husband of 7 years. We have two small dogs named Max and Missy. I love dogs, and hate to see a dog tied up and forgotten.

I love to grow different kinds of tomatoes from seed to can, and give the "extras" away (when I'm working and don't have time to can).

I MOSTLY don't even like to cook, but we like to eat, so it's a necessity that I be somewhat good at it, so I am. But I do enjoy it when I am in the mood to cook, and can still cook decent even when I'm not, most of the time.

It does bother me that rarely anyone around here cooks from anything remotely resembling "scratch" or homemade. Hamburger Helper we have never found one we liked. I guess after enough years of cooking you just learn how to do it to your own familie's tastes. I totally hate Manwich, that is the worst food ever, some people like it though, I guess it's all in your pesonal tastes. It's defintely NOT that we're food snobs, as my husband LOVES Spam, and I think it's something that only deer that like salt blocks would eat, but I used to eat it as a kid and thought it was good because that's what we had. He was in the mood for Spam last week, so I made me a sandwich with the leftover Spam with an egg on it, but I had to throw it out because it was too salty. But I used to love "canned potted meat" I think it was, and it was "delicious" then at 10 years old because I had it when I was in "recreation" class at days off from school. Now it's so salty I can't stand it, but used to I liked it because that's what wwe had for lunch. So taste is definite subjective, and I definitely don't like the "by products" with salt in them so much anymore, although I still totally love hot dogs, and lord knows where they come from. So I can deal with the salty stuff someometimes, but I mostly like homemade better, but If I'm too tired what works works like some salty old processed pot pies with French Fries, excellent when you're too tired to cook.
I KNOW how to do them homemade better, but what works works, depending on how tired you are, or how much time you have...

Favorite Foods:

My favorite cookbook is "Vaught's Cooking" (recipes from my mom's church members at Vaught Chapel), and our favorite foods I'd best describe as comfort foods.

Our favorite restaurant is Talapaque (Mexican); 2nd choice is Phil's Seafood. We work different shifts and days so dinner is whatever we have time for.
