Hi.
I love food. I especially love exotic food. Living in the Midwest and being a Celiac, my fresh options are somewhat limited. I try hard to get out to my local Asian grocer at least once a month to try something new (pickled cuddlefish, anyone?) or exotic (purple yam powder is for winners). My grandmother was from Florida, so much of what I learned to cook as a kid was Southern-inspired (she moved to Missouri, imagine the culture shock). We have our fair share of meatloafs and potatoes, but we try to get out there and try something new and strange at least once a week.
Being gluten-free has been a large change for me; Southern food loves wheat. So far I've managed to find a biscuit recipe that doubles as a dumpling recipe (with some modification) and am slowly improving on my bread making skills.
