I'm a married 24 year old, no kids just yet
I've been married for 3 years and I fear that the only thing my Mother-in-law likes about me is the fact that I can cook!
I was taught to cook by my Dad who raised my sister and I by himself. Apart from the usual meat and 3 veg he made an array of European dishes based on his German heritage.
I started cooking dinner for my family early, from about 7 and natural progression and boredom in cooking the standard 'mashed potatoes' saw me move quickly to more challenging recipes. When I left home I was on a limited budget but still managed to find money for cooking magazines and unusual and unique ingredients.
My most favourite cook book is the Central Cookery Book by A C Irvine. I have heart warming memories of this book from when I was a young girl. I learnt how to bake many biscuits, cakes and most importantly pikelets from this book ![]()
I recently switched to a strict vegetarian diet (no dairy and eggs only from my much loved and well cared for free-range chickens). I have never felt so good!!! The new ingredients and techniques I am learning have re-newed my love for getting in the kitchen! Recipezaar has most certainly helped me through some sticky spots and presented me with fantastic recipes that have fooled my omni- friends and family!!
Although I have been on Zaar for over three years I have only recently started spending more time in the Community area. Now my husband is thinking about getting a 2nd wife because I am either on this site or in the kitchen ![]()

I do have a rating system so I better write it here so people understand why I have given them a particular review
5 Stars - A fantasticallly, perfect dish that will be used in a regular manner in the V household.
4 Stars - An excellent recipe that suited my family for a one off meal and may be made again at another point but doesn't suit us for regular use.
3 Stars - A recipe that I have made but really didn't sit right for some reason
2 Stars - Something went hideously wrong and it required so serious adjusting or extra seasoning.
1 Star - I like to think I have had enough experience with cooking to be able to identify a bad recipe just by reading it but for times when experience fails me, a one star recipe will be something inedible that ends up in the bin rather than the V family stomachs.

My favourite things to cook are main dishes. I do make sweet things but prefer experimenting with multicultural cooking. I am yet to perfect a curry but continually try. I love getting new recipes from family and friends and I'm lucky to work with a fantastic source of new things to try. I keep trying to get my Dad's super secret recipe for Pumpkin Soup.
