I'm a Montessori Primary teacher (ages 3-6), originally from Louisiana. I don't know that I have a favorite cookbook. The recipes I enjoy most I've gathered from friends, internet, and various cookbooks. But I also get bored with recipes and want something new and interesting to cook.
I enjoy reading, exploring wines, traveling, gardening (cut flowers and herbs), and my son. And my two Bengal cats.
Pet peeves?? I hate hearing someone call a child "bad." That's such a sweeping judgement, and one that damages the child's developing self-esteem and sense of self.
My favorite foods are Wine, cheesecake, milk chocolate, pasta (but NO tomato sauce), and green salad. I love making tarts — we spent two weeks in France (Aix en Provence and Paris) when I was pregnant, and the ONLY thing I could keep down was pear tart. We don't eat a lot of red meat and don't cook greasy foods. I eat salad for lunch every day, and have salad with every meal. I LOVE green salad, especially with arugula. I enjoy using flowers in cooking, from rocket flowers (arugula) and nasturtiums to lilac and anise hyssop. Oh, I have a cookbook that's devoted to cooking with flowers, and it has a great recipe for a daylily pasta!
The dishes I'm known for by my friends and family are my cheesecake and Carla's Chicken. Oh, and crawfish etouffee.
My favorite restaurant — I've eaten at a lot of great restaurants, but the one that always comes to mind has to be Commander's Palace in New Orleans.
