I'm a British citizen living in America. I'm a mum of two college-aged girls and I work as an accountant.

Before I was a working mum I used to cook and bake all the time but the demands of work seemed to sap all my time and energy. A few years ago I got a new job a lot closer to home and suddenly I had time and energy again. I've recently rediscovered cooking, and with the help of recipezaar I'm trying new things and finding a new way to spend my spare time.

I love browsing through people's cookbooks and I really like the wide range of culinary delights that the members of recipezaar have submitted. I'm trying to sample a wide variety of food, but I have a hopeless sweet-tooth so I tend to gravitate towards dessert recipes. My younger daughter is vegetarian, so I'm interested in vegetarian recipes as well. Also, since food is becoming increasingly expensive, I'm beginning to focus more on good food that can be inexpensively made.

My favourite TV cook used to be Nigella Lawson. Not only is her programme very beautifully filmed, she has this genuine love of food and an unabashed joy to be doing what she loves. My new favourite TV chef is now Gordon Ramsay. I know he comes across as being an obnoxious freak, but he's so passionate and talented that I can forgive him almost anything. Plus, he's so easy on the eyes......yum...anyhoo....

I think my ultimate goal is to be able to rustle up some glorious meal at a moment's notice. It's a noble endeavour, but for now I'm patiently plodding through recipes looking for those special ones that really catch the attention of my eyes and my palate.

My pet peeve is recipes that include a box mix as one of the ingredients. I think that's cheating.
