about me

I am a fifth grade teacher in an urban school district in Los Angeles. I try to share my cooking passion with my students, either by cooking with them or passing on recipes.

I love to cook! I usually find myself trying new recipes as I am constantly building up my 'favorites' for my recipe box. Most of my recipes in that box have come from this website. I also love to entertain. I can readily put together a menu of appetizers and desserts for a quick get together, or dream up the perfect menu for a dinner (once again, thanks to this website!)

When I am not busy in the kitchen, I love to read (historical fiction), knit, and spend time with family and friends. I also love to travel. I have been fortunate enough to have visited 11 countries. I also lived in London for a while.

I am just starting to get into geneaology. My dad did most of the ground work and I am filling in the hazy areas. To date we have discovered many lineages including: King Edward I of England (my 22nd great grandfather) and Calvin Coolidge (American President) among others. As I am a huge history buff, I find it all fascinating.

My pet peeves are RUDE people! I cannot stand when I am walking behind someone and they let the door slam in my face or when I hold the door and the person just walks by. Sometimes I can't help it and will reply, "Your Welcome!"

I joined this site about five years ago and I can't imagine not being able to visit it everyday.

My favorite type of food is Japanese. I love sashimi! There are few foods I will not try.

My favorite type of food is Japanese. I think I could eat sushi/sashimi every night of the week. I like cooking many different dishes; whatever catches my eye. I love pairing my recipes to match the seasons.
