My name's Meg, I'm 18 and in between cooking and cooking, I love playing guitar, writing and reading poetry, and writing/listening to music. Love Indie rock-pop-freak folk.
I also like gardening (gotsta get my okra up here somehow), sewing, hiking,and practically anything pertaining to nature. I live on the shores of Lake Erie in a little hamlet, and even though it's not an ocean, I still consider myself incredibly lucky to live here. Of course, post-high school, I intend to hightail it down South.
Been cookin since I was tiiiny, starting from putting raisins and pecans in tarts at my aunt's bakery when I was a toddler. I was born into a long line of cooks, so I guess my passion for cooking was unavoidable.
My favourite foods are... Gumbo, freshly baked bread, pasta & cauliflower(old family dish), shrimp of every kind, and practically any soup. Key lime pie also makes me a very happy kid. :D
I love cooking different ethnic foods, but my favourites are Southern(and Cajun) and Caribbean/Island cooking. I also have a thing about reeeeeeeally old recipes, from the 1800s etc in a big way.
There's several different dishes I'm sort of notorious for, but the most popular ones around here are the buttermilk biscuits I make(and will never reveal the recipe for hahah), jerk chicken, étouffée, gumbo, and the oatmeal-raisin cookies I have posted here on zaar. Try them!
