about me

I live in "The Beautiful Emerald City” better know as Seattle, Washington. I have been married for 22 years, The Lord has blessed us with one precious & incredible Son, and he's the Love of my life. After 24 wonderful years working as a Flight Attendant, I traded my wings to be a full-time SAHM.
I enjoy cooking, camping, baseball, counted cross stitch, painting (acrylics), going to our beach house, and anything "cottage" or "shabby chic". I collect driftwood, teapots and birdhouses. My favorite cookbook is the one I hold in my hands at any one time. I have so many; it's hard to pick just one. They are each someones favorite and all are made with Love.

My top 3 pet peeves: cruelty to animals, bigotry, and unfairness...

There are 2 quotes that I try to remember daily so that I might live them to the best of my ability. Both are by Robert Brault...

"Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things". ~~Robert Brault~~

"Count no day lost in which you waited your turn, took only your share and sought advantage over no one."
~~Robert Brault ~~

Favorite Foods:

I cook a lot of "Comfort Food" and everybody loves my Smothered Pork Chops (definitely NOT your Mamma's recipe). Some foods I really enjoy are: artichokes dipped in mayonnaise flavored with Madras curry powder, eggs Benedict with home made Hollandaise Sauce, prime rib with freshly grated horseradish and Yorkshire pudding, stir fried anything (almost anything), she-crab soup. My favorite ethnic food is Greek. In 1972, I lived for a short time in a small village in/on the Peloponnese peninsula region of Greece. I have found it hard to make dishes that taste like my late, adopted YiaYia. I recently made Greek Potatoes (Oven-Roasted and Delicious!) and thanks to Evelyn/Athens, I have perfected one.
My favorite restaurant is in Narita City, Japan called "The Western Beggar", a lunch counter, with 10 stools - that are worn and never empty - ice cold Sapporo and warm sake (occasionally the other way around), two beautiful woks, and 1 incredible stir-fry chef!! The stir-fried Japanese eggplant is to die for and I have given up on trying to replicate it. It may have to do with how well seasoned the woks are and the fact that he is a stir fry chef.
My favorite place in the whole world (outside of Seattle and the Washington/Oregon coast) is Hong Kong. It is a shopper's paradise and is the culinary capital of Asia. It can, and will, arouse and enliven all 5 of your senses...maybe more. Any place that can change DH into a “shop till you drop fool” is somehow VERY mystical. I am so happy I was able to share it with him! Since my job no longer takes me there, this website is the next best thing to being there yourself and faster than then the 15 hour flight. It's fascinating, if you like this sort of thing.

I am very grateful to have had a job that gave me SO much more than a paycheck. I probably would NEVER have seen or experienced the places, food, but most importantly the people I met along the way. What an adventure!

I will NEVER FORGET my dear girlfriend, a crew member on UAL Flight 93, all of our fellow peers and our dear passengers, the brave and innocent people who lost their lives and loved ones on September 11th. I remember them often, especially when I lay my head on my pillow.

Thank you for visiting my "About Me" page.
