I used to design databases, but I gave that up to be a stay at home gardener/cook/quiltmaker. (Kid's are grown, so I had to come up with another excuse.)
I love horses; what Kentuckian doesn't?
I'm also really into Holidays; everyone teases me about this, as I've become obsessed with them to the point of even making curtains for just about every occasion. I've also been known to plant a bush or tree just so I'd have the perfect one to decorate.
I love cookbooks that tell a story, and those that have comments about the recipes. The reviews in RecipeZarr are what got me hooked.

Favorite Foods:

My favorite type of cooking is southern, although it used to drive me crazy trying to obtain recipes from my mother and grandmother. They never really measured or timed anything, they just knew what looked or felt right (to them). They were patient with me though, as a new cook, when I ran along beside them having them drop amounts of whatever ingredients they were using into measuring spoons or cups before they added them to their fixens. I try to list measurements & such correctly now that I have a daughter and grandaughters to pass recipes on to, but I do laugh at myself from time to time when I find myself doing it the way mother and grandmother used to. And even though I do have the original recipe I received for Peanut Butter Fudge from my sister-in-law, (measurements included), both myself and my daughter can only make it by scooping out the marshmallow cream and peanut butter onto a certain white plate until it looks right. I'd like to see the grandaughters try to get that into measuring cups to see how much we're really adding. Ha, ha!
