As deep as my roots are in Western PA, my branches reach out around the globe. You've heard of marrying for money? I married a chef for his recipes. Two daughters, both active in sports, have forced us to be able to make half hour dinners that don't consist of anything on a bun. Our veggie garden provides the basis for many of our meals. Pet peeve: Too long of a wait in the express line. Either these people can't count or can't read.
My husband is German, so I've learned to love roast pork with kimmel gravy and spaetzel, but I grew up with my mom's and grandma's great Italian cooking, so we have that a few times a week. But I'm not talking a pile of pasta with a ladle full of marinara - I mean foccaccia and gnocchi and great cured olives, antipasto, fresh bread and frittatas. Our favorite restaurant is Del's in Bloomfield, just outside of Pittsburgh. Worth the trip from anywhere. We do a lot of pot luck, so I'm always good for the Northside Dip and Shrimp Dip, but I get raves for my mousaka. Opa!
