I'm a stay at home mom of two angels. My 3 year old curly girl (who is going to school this fall
where does the time go???) and my 5 year old boy who quite often reminds me of an old man. His sultry, laid-back demeanor amazes me. I also have a 17 year old step-daughter who has recently started to visit again. I'm so glad, I missed her. I love to draw and try to see the beauty in everything. I stand on stepping back a moment and realizing how lucky I am.
Since joining Zaar I have developed a new love for life (and cooking) and have realized that there are a plethura of things I have not yet explored in the kitchen and a bounty of people for support, help, teaching and most importantly, friendship. Ahhhhh, contact with adults.
I DO: indulge in my cravings (ie: chocolate, chips etc) but not so much so that I feel horribly guilty afterwards....just a taste. I truly beleive that denying these ahem... cravings can make for very grumpy and unhappy people.
I DON'T: understand rudeness or disrespect. Where do people think it gets them anyways? Nothing irks me more than a mouthy child especially when it's to "elders". TRUE STORY: My DH opened a door for an elderly woman at the bank and she over-thanked him. Upon asking her why she thanked him so bountifully, she proceeded to tell him a story about a group of teen boys pushing her into a snowbank 'cause she was in their way! I was mortified, nice society we have huh! :0
I DO: love to be artistic. I used to draw, alot, but since having my second child I have not found the time, or a place to do it. My kids love to draw too and would be all to willing to "help" me. Not that I don't want them to draw, it's just I'm far to critical of my work and I'd hate to get mad at them for "re-editing" my work.
I DON'T: let too much get to me, if I did, with all that has transpired in my wee life, I'd be in a loony bin. My DH beleives I let way too much slide. I disagree!
(I think he doesn't let enough go)
I DO: have the most darling "husband".(we're not married...yet... but have been together for 81/2 yrs) I have never had anyone respect me as he does!
I DON'T: like confrontation, in fact, I hate it. I avoid it at all costs.
I DO: beleive that family matters. I insist on family dinners and not just on Sunday, and occasional late-night suppers with my DH (even if he thinks it's gonna kill him) to keep us connected 'cause if we don't have a good relationship, how are we suppose to teach our kids how to have them. I also insist on family activities, just DH, the kids, and I. They'll remember it forever, kid's should have fond memories of "the day we all went to the beach" or "the day we picnic'd at the park". The statement "remember when...." makes for some of the greatest conversations.
MY RATING SYSTEM:
5 = will make over and over, as is
4 = will make again but with minor alterations
3 = will make again but with major alterations
2 = okay, might not make again without some serious alterations
1 = did not enjoy and would not make again, not to my family's taste.
Picking a favourite food would be to torturous, like trying to remember where you hid that "special" item so you'd remember where it was! If I must, though, I LOVE: pasta, seafood(all of it), sweets, dessert(though I rarely eat, usually too full from main course), trying new tastes from around the world (from the comfort of my own home), I LIKE bread but would rather make it, than eat it, LOVE vegetables (except for peas and brussel sprouts UPDATE: I've recently acquired the taste for brussels (thx to our dearly departed Miller...God Bless) and ....etc, etc, etc,....see ....told ya it'd be too hard!
I haven't been to that many restaurants but I do LOVE the Mandarin. I also like to try small town cafes you can have some of the best meals at those at the fraction of the cost of a "ritzy" place.
I'm not "famous" for much, though my MIL and SIL always ask for my noodle/veggie salad.
