I live North of Boston. A transplant from the South Coast MA area 7 years ago. I work for a seafood company. Talk about recipe incentive! The cooking I do now is a result of a Better Homes red plaid covered cookbook. I've collected cookbooks from used book & antique stores, flea markets & yard sales, relatives, even Ebay. Thrift & 2nd hand stores are part of my passion, as well as my "significant other's". We are always on the lookout for good buys (vinyl arecord albums or used & hard-to-find cookwear in x-l-nt condition for a fraction of the price!)
If I had a month off from work, I would go to Key West, kick back, relax, listen to live blues, jazz & rock music at the clubs, walk during the day & explore the area more..... & eat only local Keys seafood!
With a busy schedule, crock-pot, one-dish casseroles, make-aheads, make-in-multiples (i.e. make one dish so leftovers can be used in another dish) are the most necessary. When time allows, off come the speed-skin gloves! It's time for a meal with thought. I try to make heart healthy recipes due to elevated cholestrol levels & blood pressure. The special dish might not be as healthy but will be good for the soul & brain & a necessary mental health boost.
