about me

I'm 33, single, and most importantly a SAHM to my gorgeous 5 children. I have 4 boys - Cayden (8), Zavien (7), Dallen (4), and Tayne (3) - and a baby girl, Siahna (1). Needless to say I have plenty of people to cook for.

I'm vegan and raising my children vegan also. I cook everyday and rarely make the same thing twice as I just love to try new things. I experiment constantly with recipes, tweaking them based on my children's taste and what's available in my fridge and pantry.

I try to avoid processed foods, limit soy, and focus on organic whenever possible. Our diet consists of mainly fruit, vegetables, grains, beans, nuts, and nut/rice milks.

Even though my children keep me busy and I homeshool them, I make the time to cook 99% of what we eat from scratch. I also, obsessively, listen to music constantly. I get jittery if I go too long without music.

Favorite Foods:

I love Mexican food and potatoes in absolutely any form - hash browns, mashed, fries, baked, scalloped, potato chips ... YUM.

Cayden has a big sweet tooth. He's opened up a lot more about trying new things and will eat mostly anything. His favorite food is chickpea pot pie. He loves fresh fruit and raw vegetables.

Zavien is the foodie in the house. He will eat absolutely anything and isn't afraid to try something new, no matter how strange it may seem. He loves to help me cook and is fascinated with food preparation. He loves pretty much everything. He has an uncanny ability to identify ingredients in a food based on taste, when no-one else in the room even notices the flavor.

Dallen is a picky eater, but he's also 4. He loves fresh fruit. He's not very willing to try new things but I'm sure he'll grow out of that. He seems to also have a bit of a sweet tooth. He adores fresh blueberries and grapes, and loves peanut butter sandwiches and dried fruit.

Tayne is somewhat open to trying new things, especially if I'm eating it. He loves fruit and nuts. He can't get enough rice crackers, grapes or dried fruit. He, surprisingly, loves extremely spicy salsa.

Siahna has just started eating solids and LOVES food. She doesn't care much for fruit, preferring things such as hummus, olive tapenade, and vegetables. She has odd tastes, but it's fun watching her explore new foods.

I think there isn't much more important than nourishing my children's bodies with healthy food and teaching them the importance of healthy eating, while also respecting the planet and all animals.
