Born and raised on Cape Cod, I discovered at an early age that I could never live far from the sea...
Every time I travel inland, it's like someone has torn my soul out and the moment I return, I am whole once more...
I work in a nursing home/rehab facility and have done so since 1989...
Around here, if you're not white collar, you're labor and if you're labor, healthcare is the best pay, so there I am...
My favorite cookbook is the Joy of Cooking and you can tell from all the food stains in it, LOL!
My pet peeves are people with NO manners, people who expect 'instant gratification' in every part of their lives (the world 'owes' them their desires) and people who refuse to take responsibility for their mistakes and failures (i.e. 'it's not my fault'...or, 'it isn't fair'...)
For fun, I'm very laid back...I like watching movies, reading books, listening to music and going out to eat whenever I can afford it
Last year I discovered both the Games Forum and the Contests&Events Forum where I've played 'tag' games as well as Swaps and even the occasional Bake-a-thon/Cook-a-thon, which allows me to try new recipes and meet new people that I may not normally have been...

It would seem that my 'favorites' are inevitably things that are not good for me...I grew up in a large family, back when Mom stayed at home, so money was tight...Quite frankly, it was too expensive to 'eat healthy' with only one income and 9 people in the household...So you bought cheap, in bulk and made these starchy, fattening casseroles that would fill a belly...Anything 'healthy' about them or in them was incidental, LOL! I have no ONE favorite, just a predilection for casseroles (my comfort food)...I can't say that I'm exactly 'famous' for anything, but I will admit that I get frequent requests for my Thanksgiving stuffing, my homemade mashed potatoes, my Christmas cheese spread and my party dip...and no, I won't divulge them online, family secret doncha know! A favorite restaurant? Hand's down, a place called Cooke's Seafood which operates only 6 months out of the year, give or take...It's the one food indulgence that I'll kill a diet for due in large part to their heavenly fried oysters! These days my lifestyle has changed a little due in part that I'll be 50 years old soon...I'm trying to get healthy by eating right and exercising with the assistance of a wonderful website called SparkPeople.com...As such I've been changing all my recipes to a lighter and healthier version wherever possible...But don't let that stop you from trying them, they're equally good in a healthier version! So that's it for now, I hope you've enjoyed my page and will consider trying one or more of my recipes! This page was last edited on 3/30/08 (because I was chosen Chef of the Day!)
