about me

I joined the great big family of Recipezaar in 2005. Great choice! It is by far the best food site I've come across. The people who make up the "Zaar" are some of the most wonderful people I've ever come to know. I am honored to call them my friends. It has been quite an experience making and trying the recipes that I've chosen here. Now, a little about me:
I grew up in southern Calif. and loved growing up near the Pacific Ocean. During the summer of the 3rd grade, I met a girl who would be in the same class that fall, as I.
The years have gone by and I have cherished her friendship now for 50 years. We still remain "Bestest Friends."

I have since moved back to Las Vegas, Nv. I met the man who would become my husband of 18 years while working at Bally's casino.
I have loved to cook since I was barely a teenager. My father was a chef at some of the best Casinos and Hotels here in Las Vegas. He taught me techniques, as well as recipes, and a myriad of cooking ways that I'll never forget. He owned several reataurants, including some by the beach in Calif. I can still remember peeling potatoes in the kitchen of his restaurants when I was 5 or 6.
I taught my husband Tom many of the things I learned from my father, and can leave him alone in the kitchen(well, almost, if I can peek around the corner ever few seconds!)
We love Italian food, then Mexican, then Chinese. We're always trying new recipes. We seldom go out to eat because we know what we like, love to cook it, and often invite friends over to help us eat it.

We have a four-legged , furry alarm clock that we call Martini. She was an abused cat that I got at a shelter. It took 4 years to hear her purr. She will never get any better, but she'll get no worse. She is extremely nervous, and will "hit the deck" if she hears a loud noise. I think I was meant to have her. She's my baby, and if you have any cats you'll understand.

As for favorite foods, I'd have to say Lasagna, then lobster, milk (love my milk)most fish and veggies!

Disliked foods:those little pellet things on top of pizzas that they charge you for and try to make you believe is sausage.

I grew up in Torrance, Calif., and lived 3 miles from the ocean. During the summers my best friend and I walked to and from the beach nearly every day. I lived briefly in Las Vegas when I was 13, then I returned to Calif. I have since moved back to
Las Vegas, Nv. but my heart will always belong to the ocean.

I met my husband while working as a casino cage cashier at Ballys. He was a Director of Gaming at the time. That was 18 years ago. It seems like only yesterday. We are still in love!

Favorite Foods:

My favorite things to cook/bake: Lasagna, actually anything Italian, including risotto which I love. We love Italian food, then Mexican, then Chinese. We rarely eat out because we actually like our own food better. I don't mean it's better than anyone elses, it's just that we cook to our tastes. I love to bake cheesecakes, my hubby loves to eat them, he specially loves my Margarita cheesecake, which hasn't been posted yet, but I'm working on and will soon be ready to post.

Things I dislike:Those little "pellets" that they put on pizzas and try to pass it off as sausage.
I know it is a practice many of you use, but I refuse to cook with: "can of soup" and I don't mean to offend anyone, it's just a peeve of mine.

Things I like:I spent my whole life working and most of it was working the Graveyard shift, which was approx. midnight to 8 am.
I love to sit on my front porch(I live in a mobile home, so it's kind of like a deck) on my glider with a cup of coffee and my crosseword puzzle book.

My hobbies are, besides cooking, I love to read, I love my cookbooks and getting them in order, and flower arrangements.

My favorite foods: Lasagna(which I'm famous for. I love milk,cheese, soft tacos,lobster.

My food dislikes:black olives, rasins, mushrooms other than fresh, uncooked fish.

I hope you will try some of my recipes, and if you have any questions, feel free to zmail me. I'm always home!!
