about me

Used to go by the name of AshaK. Changed as of May 27th,06. I like plain ol' Asha better ..lol....

I love to read and spend time with my family. I love cookbooks and I collect them. I enjoy looking at photos of food. They inspire me to try a lot of new recipes. That's one of the reasons why Cooking Light is my favorite magazine and now the Cooking Photos and Information Forum on the Zaar is my new addiction I've met some incredible and talented people there and they inspire me daily. Their creativity and passion for cooking and food photography is so contagious that I caught the "bug"..LOL..

I live with my husband and three fluffy and loveable kitties. My DH is very happy I discovered Zaar because of our newly expended menu. I've made something new at least couple of times a week. We hardly ever get a take out anymore!..LOL..
So many great recipes, so little time

My rating system for recipes I try is:
5* is for all the easy and yummy creations that I will make again many times, that my hubby and I enjoyed a lot, and brought a smile to our faces, and will go into my Favorite Zaar Cookbook. They don't have to be one of the kind, gourmet or exotic, but they have to be perfectly delicious.
4* is for recipes that we liked and I had to replace couple of things to suit our taste, and I will make them again.
3* is for recipes that I will use as a good base and change quite a bit to make my own.
2* is for recipes I could not make to work even with changing it a lot and will not make again.
1* is for recipes that I would never try again.

That said I've been very lucky and so far tasted some great things from this site. I don't think that I will ever have to give 1 or 2 stars to anybody (or hopefully not 3 either) I usually try to pick our favorite foods and even when I made something I've never done before so far it turned out great. I am looking forward to many, many fantastic recipes and my cookbooks are bulging with all the new ones I can't wait to make. It will take me many years to get through them but I am up for the task

Favorite Foods:

My favorite food is Italian, Mexican, Asian and Polish but the list is growing by the minute. Also I would say my most favorite food is anything with cheese and mushroom, and I am a major carboholic

I can never get enough of hot bowl of soup with a slice of crusty bread to mop it up. It's pure comfort to me.
I don't bake and I'm not very big on sweets (although my dessert cookbook has gotten really big from all the sweet temptations on this site) but I would never say "No" to a Tiramisu or Apple pie with ice cream. I am also a big fan of coconut flavor in sweet or savory foods.
