about me

Hi all- Nope not me and DH, it is my DD and DS. As you can see they are gorgeous and the loves of our lives. We are so proud of both our children and now that I finally learned to do this picture thing, sort of, I put 2 of my favorite people on here. DD is a teacher at an Alternative School in FLorida. She is also a Varsity Softball Coach. DS just graduated from Drill Sergeant School in February 2008 and has re-enlisted in the Army Reserves for an additional 6 years. SEE WHY WE ARE SO PROUD! They have grown into responsible adults.
I have been married to the most wonderful man for 28+ years. He is my best friend and the love of my life, my soulmate, and everyday makes me smile!
We also are the adoptive parents of a spunky puppy, SassyGirl, a black retriever. (mix of Golden Retriever and Black Labrador Retriever)

I love to travel and see anything and everything. When summer comes, I am off to "see". DH and I traveled across country several times and our children are seasoned travelers as well. "Road Trip" are 2 of my favorite words. The kids and I have done a few trips as well down the eastern seaboard and there are plans for more. Both DD and DS are gypsies as well and think nothing of taking a road trip to visit home or each other. LOVE IT>

My favorite Cook Persons and "cookbooks" are my YIAYIA (greek gramma) and mother. (I learned by watching and doing) I learned to cook authentic foods from them and have revised some to meet my family's tastes.
I live in Western New York and love it here, snow and all. I am a special education teacher and enjoy my career. The sense of wonder and gratification comes daily and amazing.My favorite pastime is spending time with my family! I love to read, listen to music and watch good movies. We have Friday night pizza night here, which means I do not cook! I love Friday's. I started this custom when my children were small and we would cuddle on the floor and play games together and eat pizza. (Highly recommended for all moms out there, dads too.) I LOVE THAT!
My favorite cookbook has changed since I came to Zaar, it is now the Zaarworld cookbook. I can get everything I need here and then some to cook up meals for family and friends. One passion of mine is to cook homestyle meals for family and friends, holiday dinners and baking bread.
My pet peeve is rudeness. INTOLERABLE!

Favorite Foods:

My favorite foods: chocolate, desserts, great family comfort foods, soups of all kinds, lamb, chicken, and fish. Greek of course is my favorite, Italian a very close 2nd, anything that has good flavors that can roll around my taste buds and send a smile to my heart.
Strykersville Pub is a favorite restaurant as it is close to home, family owned and operated for so many years that it's patrons feel like family when we enter. All the foods are homemade and the portions are family size along with the best salad bar I have ever seen.
I must also mention Sunday breakfast as a favorite as DH is the Chief cook for Sunday Breakfasts.
