about me

I'm a college student at the University of Alabama. I just started really cooking this year when I got my own apartment kitchen; before I had always just loved to bake lots of desserts to give to everyone to enjoy. But cooking has become an obsession for me, and my friends make fun of me for the extent of the dinners I make for myself, but I don't mind. A few years ago my mother gave me The Ultimate Southern Living Cookbook, and I do use it for many recipes.. but I love Ina Garten. Every recipe of hers I ever make turns out wonderful. Other than cooking, I do love school.. in a couple years I will be heading off to law school. Right now, I'm a philosophy major with a minor in French and an honors interdisciplinary liberal arts program we have at the university.

Favorite Foods:

My absolute favorite food of all time is the salsa they serve at Cozymel's--don't ask me why! I drag my family there every year for my birthday. The food isn't even all that good anymore, but I just looove that salsa. My ultimate goal is to make a comparable copy cat version of it..!
I love to cook Mexican food, period, but I'm venturing off to Asian foods. Right now my obsession is Thai. I never even used to think I liked Thai food (my parents always took me there when I was younger, but I've never liked sweet, oily noodly food, but of course that's what they ordered me!), until I had some tom kha gai at a local restaurant, which.. changed my life.
During football season, I always invite a lot of my friends over for dinner--particularly boys, whom I feel bad for since they never get a really homecooked meal, just frozen pizza! Every weekend they bug me about when I'm going to make this or that again. Recently I started making sushi, which is another highly requested item from my friends.
