Hello fellow cookaholics! My screen name comes from a song about food (well, toast actually) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ru_FIwX1tb8 Thanks for stopping by my About Me page. So, a little about me. . .
I am married to my soulmate. Some favorite recipes I like to cook are banana bread, Curry - Lamb, Chicken, Pork or Shrimp, garlic shrimp & pasta, meatballs, pork chops and Favorite Chili Mac. A great restaurant in Washington, DC area is Martins Tavern in Georgetown. If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend it. The food is awesome (Eggs Benedict was perfect), and the restaurant has been frequented by every president since Truman. John F. Kennedy proposed to Jackie there. The service is impeccable. History just seems to ooze out of the wooden booths!

I appreciate the easy quantity conversion feature on Recipezaar recipes. Now that I have discovered this site, we rarely have the same thing for dinner twice in a month.


A favorite tip that has saved me a lot of frustration in the kitchen is to use empty cereal bags for pounding meat (for me, it is usually chicken breasts or pork). Those bags are very tough, and they don't break through like saran or wax paper. Just place the meat pieces inside the bag, set the bag on a cutting board and pound away. Use tongs to pull the meat out. Throw out the bag. Easy peesy, lemon squeezy!

Favorite Foods:

I pretty much like all foods except liver, lima beans and certain types of sushi. I could eat an avocado every day of my life, and pizza is always a treat. "light" chocolate mint ice cream is my (almost) nightly indulgence. Other favorites are lobster, fried grouper sandwiches, scallops, fried calamari, and halibut. Sweet corn. Fresh strawberries.
