My name is Thora Shannon, I'm from Salt Lake City, Utah, and am 23 years old. I'm a stay at home mother of Lydia Aurelia Shannon, born in March, 2006. I've graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelors in Near Eastern Studies in 2005. My husband still attends the University. We met there in a Medieval Club called the Quill and the Sword, but became friends through one of the guilds; the cooking one, of course. Every week my friends and I would meet at my house and cook medieval recipes, which we then perfected and served at biannual feasts. Although I'm graduated, I still love to cook with my friends, which I've found to be a much more exciting activity than movies, bowling, etc.
Growing up I cooked a lot for my family, and have always especially liked "useful" dishes, like entrees, breads, etc. My husband, Avram, is the Baker in the family.
Medieval Cooking, Bread (I make freshly ground hard white whole wheat bread every Monday), meals from scratch. I'm famous in my family for my white dinner rolls, and they're always asking for the recipe. The thing with most breads, however, is it's in the method and experience, not in the recipe, so I always just use whatever recipe's at hand.
