about me

How I rate recipes:
5 STARS - Excellent results and will definitely make again
4 STARS - Very good and will probably make again
3 STARS - Pretty good, may make again with some adjustments
2 STARS - Didn't care too much for this recipe
1 STAR - Did not like

Whenever possible I do my best to follow a recipe exactly the first time I make it.
Realizing that food is a matter of taste, I won't always review a recipe I don't care for.

Favorite Foods:

Since joining Zaar I've actually discovered a joy in cooking. Where once it was a chore, now it has become a hobby with me and I'm having so much fun trying new recipes, experimenting with old ones, discovering new tastes, etc.

Also, thanks to Zaar, I've learned to love soup. Bless her heart, my mom made a lot of soup when I was growing up. Secretly I called it "garbage soup" because it was made from all the leftovers she could find whenever she cleaned out the refrigerator. Seemed like it didn't matter how old the item was, if it wasn't green and/or fuzzy and didn't smell totally awful, into the soup it went. Because of that, I spent many years of my life unable to stand the thought of eating soup of any kind.

On Soup by Judith Martin (Miss Manners)
Do you have a kinder, more adaptable friend in the food world than soup? Who soothes you when you are ill?
Who refuses to leave you when you are impoverished and stretches its resources to give a hearty sustenance and cheer?
Who warms you in the winter and cools you in the summer? Yet who also is capable of doing honor to your richest table and impressing your most demanding guests? Soup does its loyal best, no matter what undignified conditions are imposed upon it. You don't catch steak hanging around when you're poor and sick, do you?
