I'm a student and a single parent of 2, therefore very busy!! But still find time in my hectic schedule to cook & try new things. I'm a vegetarian, but apart from that eat almost anything, and am very open to new tastes. Currently trying to expand my repertoire of quick but healthy family meals & things I can make the night before, but I do find it hard to resist playing with recipes and making them far more complicated!! If I could spend all day faffing around in the kitchen I would.
I also have millions of other interests besides cooking (and I'm not exagerating much), but cooking is one of the few I can justify devoting lots of time to - you've got to eat!! And you might as well eat well!
I love spices (not just "hot" ones) and any interesting & unusual flavours. I'm a particularly big fan of indian cookery as it's ideal for a vegetarian diet, it makes it so easy to get a balance of proteins and other good stuff, without compromising flavour. On the other hand I also like really simple things, like nicely cooked fresh vegetables perhaps with little bit of butter or olive oil & salt & pepper. I've also got a very sweet tooth; I love indian sweets, but am also a huge fan of traditional english puds!
I go through "phases" with food, I'll eat a certain type of food all the time for a while, then not eat it again for a year!
To be honest, though, there's very little I don't like, as long as its skillfully cooked and hasn't previously been conscious!
