about me

I am a transplant to the Deep South from the Great State of Iowa. I am a housewife who loves to go cook, backpack, and garden. There are three gardens at my house and I enjoy tending to them all. There is something spectacular about growing your own food. My favorite cookbook would have to be "The Joy of Cooking." Whenever I need to know the basics of a recipe or skill I check there. Other than that I love to read recipes wherever I can find them and have a very creative mind. I have a degree in English and spend large amounts of my time reading and writing, yet...I love to cook.

Favorite Foods:

My favorite dish would have to be lasagna. I love it! It is also a lot of fun to make because it always reminds me of a building project. If I were famous for a dish I suppose that it would have to be green enchiladas. My green enchiladas are vegetarian, but never fear they do not contain any obscure vegetarian products! I am also adept at canning, preserving, and breadmaking. My favorite restaurant? Probably Capriccio's at the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock. Great food, beautiful atmosphere, and a staff that always remembers its guests and then treats you like royalty.
