about me

I am a WAHM of two kids, I run a Provincal day home with 4 additional kids here 5 days a week. This year I have three little girls (one of my own) all in Kindergarten..makes life fun.

I love to bake, I love to cook and I have a nasty cookbook/recipe fetish (Its genetic I think!!). I also collect Pillsbury Dough Boy things.

I am married to my best friend, we have two kids. None of us are fussy eaters except the hubby hates beets..I can live with that one thing. He works for a oilfield company as an Inventory Control Manager.

I grew up on a mixed ranch just east of the Sask/AB border. With my "Dirty 30's" frugal Grandparents I grew up berry picking and learning to grow a huge garden, we are a 4th generation beef producing family so most of our own meat is fresh off the farm. They taught me to preserve just about everything, and use those left overs .

Canning (by myself) is a new hobby of mine, started with Aunt Lori's salsa. I have expanded to jams, jellies, pickles,..whatever catches my eye at the time. I am a berry picker and love that fresh fruit to make the homemade jams and jellies. This year we had 4 generations out in the bush picking wild berries.

A lot of my posted recipes are handme downs from my mom and my grandma, I stole (literally!!) her box of cookbooks and handwritten recipes when she passed. I am in the process of designing a cookbook so I can at least share those favorite recipes with the rest of my family because there isnt a chance in H%$# they will get the orginals.

I enjoy trying new recipes and with the dayhome I am always in need of new ideas. I have realized that kids come fussy. I don't base my tried recipes on the dayhome kids opinion of it because one day they will love something and the next they won't touch it. All my recipes are rated on my family tastes and enjoyment of the recipe.

Favorite Foods:

My favorite foods include Beef done anyway there is. I am from a long line of beef producers and we take great pride in our beef. I love sweets, I spent a lot of time with my grandma growing up and we baked constantly. Pies, cakes, cookies, squares you name it I love them all. My pan shortbread and my Sunflower brittle would be my most requested sweets. I sell my salsa in the fall to friends (who won't learn how to make it themselves).
