I was born in Birmingham, Alabama and now live in Statesboro, Georgia, home of Blind Willie McTell, who wrote the song, "Statesboro Blues." I work at the library, and enjoy reading, crocheting and tatting and of course cooking. I adopted a beagle named Sally last year.
Mostly I love to cook comfort foods, but I like to experiment. Because I work at the library, I am always finding new cookbooks to read, even if I never try any of the recipes, it is a good way to discover different ethnic or regional dishes. I am famous for my seafood gumbo and bread pudding, which I make every New Year's Eve. Mom gave me a stand mixer, so I have been making pound cakes lately. They can be sliced and frozen. I also like to use the crockpot, so I can come home to a hot meal. Since discovering this site I have put several dishes in regular rotation such as barbeque beef, baked ziti, bananas foster, Cuban sandwiches, blueberry pound cake, whipping cream pound cake and more!
