I live in a quiet country town about 30kms from Ballarat.
What can I say about me.I used to think cooking involved stuff that came in a packet, tin, or jar that you could open and throw in the microwave and there you have it a instant meal. Otherwise if I was hungry there was always the telephone to pick up and order a culinary delight or the local take away shops
Then...I gained a partner (lucky me) and with him came three kids. So I went from my hip fancy free single life in the city to a quiet slow family life in the country. What was I to do, there was no such thing as home delivery and no racing to the store if I had forgotten to buy something. Suddenly with 4 extra mouths to feed a microwave meal just didnt cut it.
The kids now aged 17,15,12 sure can pack the food away yet not an ounce of fat on them.
Now with these extra mouths to feed I had to come up with tasty nutritional meals that would satisfy the hungry masses. Thankfully those high school cooking classes came flooding back and I managed to knock out some decent basic food, but hey there is only so many times a week you can cook spaghetti.
Then we got technological and got a computer and with the computer we got internet and with the internet Recipezaar and a whole new world of cooking for the family..
Although there is a lot of room for improvement in my cooking nobody has got sick from it yet lol...
Having been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes I have to watch my diet carefully.
I think my hardest task in the food department is school lunches and play lunches keeping them interesting.
My absolute favourite food is vegetarian spring rolls, satay chicken, and noodles with soy sauce. Yummy.
