My southern roots are apparent in my cooking, but I've mixed in a dash of Chicago (where I spent many years)and Spain (where I studied once upon a time). However, now my home is undergoing a rather severe remodeling, so I'm spending more time reading about cooking and less time actually doing it! I'm also a teacher (high school) so during the school year my desire to spend time in the kitchen takes a backseat to work. If the remodeling and new kitchen ever are completed, I'm looking forward to family dinners and entertaining (I'd settle for having all my gadgets and stuff stored where I can find them and cooking an elegent dinner for my husband and me!)Pet peeve? Kitchen utensils not where they're supposed to be!
Ron of Japan's egg yolk sauce on lobster and shrimp, fantastic popcorn, dim sum, paella, wonderfully grilled ribeye steak, collard greens, fried cornbread (told you I was Southern), and the list could go on for ever.
Favorite dishes to cook: Country-style steak and gravy, paella. Famous for: popcorn and fried eggs. Favorite restaurant: Ron of Japan in Northbrook and Chicago, IL.
