about me

Stay at home mom to 3 boys, ages 21, 19, & 17. I home school the youngest. He'll be a senior this fall. The 2 older ones are going to college.
September 2004: I eat the Somersize way & enjoy finding & trying new recipes that fit into this way of eating. My husband is more successful at this than I. He's lost 40 lbs., his cholesterol levels are absolutely perfect as are his blood pressure & sugars (he is diabetic, has high BP & cholesterol; well, he DID). Me? Well....I'm still trying! Hey, my GOOD cholesterol is up!
UPDATE September 2006: Well, nix that last part about Somersizing. I still use a few of her recipes but most of it was so involved. I don't have time or the money for it. My kids are going somewhere every day and it's a miracle if they get something to eat that I've cooked. Am now looking into low cost, do-ahead meals that they can pop in the microwave and eat on the run. They're in rehearsals now for "My Fair Lady" so Cornish pasties are a must try.
July 2007: "My Fair Lady" is WAY over. They've blasted through "The Scarlet Pimpernel", "Into the Woods", and "Fiddler on the Roof". I put over 250 miles per week on the car shuttling them back and forth for rehearsals. We eat out a lot. Mostly $1 menu garbage from McDonald's. But, oh bliss, this week not much driving. Looking for good BBQ recipes. Also, major heatwave here in the desert. Have worn out 2 blenders making slushies and frozen margaritas.

Favorite Foods:

Mexican; hot & spicy or hot & sour; Chinese; sushi. I love trying to prepare almost any ethnic food. My family loves my homemade pizza & breadsticks. My BBQ skills are improving. Ribs, steaks, chicken, & pork anything have all been successfully grilled to perfection. (OK, some of the chicken's been a little bit burnt but my DH likes it that way. Yuk!)
