I'm a Texan at heart, although I've been living in NC for quite a number of years.
I am married to a wonderful woman,we have three kids and now four grandchildren. I do 99.8% of the cooking.
I'm a simple cook ... and although I very much enjoy reading cookbooks I generally cook by the seat of my pants, fixing ad hoc meals out of whatever is available. But I get ideas from the cookbooks I read. I especially enjoy personal recipes — recipes that other people took the time to save. I have been known to buy recipe boxes at estate auctions. Likewise cookbooks at resale shops ... if it has a number of personal recipes folded within the pages it will usually be going home with me.

My motto is pretty much, if it used to be alive, I'll eat it. Well, within reason of course.
