about me

I am a woman Combat Veteran. I served in the War on Terror, as an Apache Helicopter mechanic/ electrician. I am a 8 year convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We are from Arizona. My husband is a Federal Agent for the US Border Patrol and Customs. Currently my husband is training to fly Blackhawks for the AZ Army National Guard. My son is in Kindergarten and loves living on post here in Alabama. I love the outdoors and music. I hike and play my guitar whenever I have a moment. My appreciation for good food began at home with my Mom and extended family who are from New Orleans and are always cooking up something delicious. While I was in college in California, I was influenced by the health nut culture there. As a result I taught myself to cook and began to learn more about diet, nutrition, and exercise. I have learned how to alter recipes for additional nutrition. That said, I am always looking for tasty, healthier recipe alternatives. Some of my finds I have posted. In the past 5 years studying on my own, I've learned a lot about botanical medicine. I make all my own cleaning products and soaps.

Favorite Foods:

I really enjoy cultural foods which is why our family enjoys a variety of meals. My favorite recipes are my Grandmother's french toast with strawberries and my Mom's red beans and rice. I have a reputation for making good food (thanks in part to 'Zaar!). My most favorite food is avacado. My mom says I'm just like my Filipino Grandfather in this respect. I like it plain on Triscuits and I like it as guacamole (blended with some fresh salsa/picante sauce). My favorite food that I take with me when I go hiking is a Pepperidge Farm Hearty Wheat cracker (these are the best tasting, and nutritious crackers) stacked with a slice of Monterey Jack, Gala apple, with a tall bottle water. Yummy and refreshing!
