about me

I'm 46 years old, married 26 years (yikes!).I have a 19 year old (married) and a 13 year old (the dreaded teen years!)I love to try easy recipes that score major points with taste and appearance. I work in Purchasing at our local hospital. My favorite guilty pleasure is reading when I know there is housework to be done. We are very active in our local Church. My husband is a deacon, Church treasurer and helps teach adult Sunday school class. I teach a young teen Sunday school class and Wednesday night children's class. That really ties up alot of our time. My husband travels frequently with his job so most nights there are just two of us. I do most of my cooking the weeks he is home. One of my guilty pleasures is collecting cookbooks. Being from the south however, it isn't just any cookbooks, but Church cookbooks. I have found that these contain what I call "real" recipes. That is, recipes that are down to earth, easy to do, and taste great. I'm a sucker for these and everybody at work seems to know it!
Finally time to update-the family is changing and increasing by leaps and bounds. Our daughter has presented us with the most beautiful grandson (no, I'm not prejudiced at all!) My husband is at home more, so I am trying to find quick convenient weekday meals. This has become quite a challenge since he has been recently diagnosed with diabetes. We are trying to adjust, and it has meant "tinkering" with a few beloved recipes. On the up side, however, it has also meant discovering some great recipes on here.

Favorite Foods:

Chocolate is my very best friend. Unfortunately I also love carbs and sweets and all the unhealthy stuff I know I should avoid. My husband is a real meat and potatoes guy, doesn't care for the frilly stuff, just the basics. Unfortunately my son is the ultimate junk food junkie. I feel like I've scored major points if I can get vegetables somewhere in the equation. I love Italian dishes, probably lasagna is my favorite, but I confess mine is an Americanized version, very basic, noodles, tomato sauce, and cheeses (no cottage or ricotta, though).
