We both cook, bareboat sail charter, and garden. He loves Julia Child's "The Way to Cook." My absolute two favorite cookbooks are Dorothy Ivens' "Glorious Stew" (1969) and Anne Sheasby's "Light Pasta Sauces" (1995).
My best hint to other cooks: WRITE in the margins of your cookbooks. I put the date made, rating, and who served to and with what if made for guests.
A month off? Go to the beach and read, read, read; go snorkling; beachcomb for shells ...
Now that we are in Hawai'i, I've discovered that my month off will have to wait awhile. We are spending our time working on our house which had no maintenance done for the last six years!
Avocados, shellfish of any kind, and Japanese food.
Favorite dish: Stroganoff "Glorious Stew." If you ever visit Austria, go have a fabulous meal at the Kronberghof north of Vienna near the town of Kronberg in the Wine Quarter.
