DH and I celebrated 30 years together on February 24, 2009. It has been an interesting experience with lots of work and change. But definitely worth it. We have 2 children--a daughter and a son, neither of which live at home. Our daughter married in October 2005 and now we have a wonderful son-in-law and are first time grandparents (May 11, 2007) to a beautiful little girl. We have 2 four legged children, Cookie and Brisa.
My husband is a diabetic and I made a life style change and lost approximately 75 lbs several years ago. I love to cook and enjoy making the many varied recipes I find here on Zaar. Thanks to Zaar I have expanded my cooking experiences much more than I would have ever imagined.
Cooking has always been a passion of mine. At the very young age of 15 I began cooking and experimenting with different recipes. Many, many years ago through very hard work, I was the top exhibitor in the home economics section of the Southern New Mexico State Fair. I have one recipe in a cookbook published by the State Fair of Texas. I love to cook and collect recipes and have for as long as I can remember. The recipes posted have helped to make mealtime much more exciting.
In August of 2003, I came to Zaar looking for a Peach Cobbler recipe. In March of 2004, I once again found myself on Zaar. I found a great Split Pea Soup recipe and much, much more. When reviewing my email address book I found that I had many friends all over the world thanks to Zaar.
I am a co-host in Recipe Request, Diabetic Forum and New Members. Since joining Zaar, I have meet lots of wonderful people on Zaar in person, through swaps and the forums. Zaar is more than a cooking community. It is an internet community of friendship.

Favorite foods? I love chicken and fish, especially salmon. I really enjoy finding new and different ways to prepare foods. I believe that the dining experience should be pleasant and enjoyable regardless of restrictions. A special "diet" doesn't have to be dull.
