I live in Astoria, NY. I've been in love with cooking for as long as I can remember. My hours at work just changed, so I should have a lot more time to cook...I'm soooo excited!

My dbf is Vietnameese so I plan on attempting to master that cuisine next. That means spending a lot of time with my copy of Mai Pham's "Pleasures of the Vietnamese Table" and looking over his mom's shoulder as she cooks. I know I can't compare to how well his mom cooks (she's a GREAT cook) but I can try!

When I'm not at work or cooking, I love camping, photography, reading and roadtrips. I also love getting out and exploring New York City...there's just so much to see and do here. One of my favorite things to do here is to check out the great farmers market we have in NY.

I have an addiction to cookbooks, cooking magazines, recipezaar and cooking shows. If the internet (especially 'zaar) counts as a cookbook, then it's absolutely the most used one in my kitchen. I'm trying to utilize the public library a bit more so I can cut back on the amount of money I spend on cookbooks, but some of them are just too beautiful to resist!

Favorite Foods:

I'm half Irish and half Spanish, so if it's got potatoes or rice, I'm in love...Rice and Beans is one of my faves-and soooo easy to make! Mom's pot roast has got to be up there on the list, too.

Living in NYC (Queens especially) has given me the opportunity to taste all kinds of new things. I really love Thai food, latin food, sushi, pho and all the fresh seafood that my oh-so Greek neighborhood has to offer.

When it comes to cooking, nothing is more enjoyable to me then putting on a big pot of soup, chili, potroast or stew. Every summer I wait patiently for the fall to arrive so I can start making the cold weather dishes that I love so much.
