Was raised on a farm where we grew our own vegetables and butchered our own meat. Raised 4 children and now have 11 grandchildren. We still garden as much as we can, and share produce with family and friends. Canning, freezing, pickling, etc. are ways to enjoy the produce year round.
Love the old church cookbooks for ideas from different cultures. You can take a basic idea and vary it according to your tastes. Betty Crocker's cookbook was a shower gift in 1962 and I still use it.
