I'm from Virginia, but am currently living in Paris, exploring the city and teaching English to get by. I did the same in Japan last year and, though I love to travel, I do start to miss some of the foods back home. Which is why I'm on this site! In fact, I didn't pay much attention to cooking until I left the country and it got a lot harder to find "normal" ingredients. But now I'm definitely hooked; I do lots of experimenting.
Other than cooking though, I love exploring, and spending time outdoors. I paint and do some sculpture, and I read a lot. I studied anthropology in college, and am currently trying to decide what to do after my Paris working permit expires!
Crabcakes! Oh crabcakes, I miss them so much. It's probably the Chesapeake Bay in me. I also love Japanese food. And Thai, and pretty much anything Asian. And I'm definitely a connoisseur of falafel.
Plus, because I'm in Paris, I really miss Mexican food and barbeque, both of which are seriously lacking here. However I have fallen in love with blanquette de veau and ratatouille, neither of which I had ever tasted before coming.
Lastly - pizza. Seriously, can one ever get enough pizza? I think not.
