about me

Hi all! I'm a caterer originally from Champaign, Il., and have lived my whole life in the midwest. (Illinois and Indiana.) My husband and I have been living in New Jersey for over 2 years now, and let's just say it's quite different from the midwest! It's very pretty here and all, but there's no place like HOME!!
I of course LOVE to cook and bake, and have enjoyed SO MANY recipes from the zaar members here!!!! I can't believe how many recipes I would've never experienced had I not found this site! I really enjoy joining in the games, too!!! It's a great way to meet people!! I don't think I have ever even logged off since I first signed up!

Ever since I was old enough to hold a pencil or crayon, I LOVED to draw!! Here's just a couple of the things I did. Just a pencil drawing I did in school when I was 14, and 2 zinc plate etchings I did when I was in HS and was 17 and then 18. About all I have! My mom has all my drawings! Grrr!!! (I'm actually lucky to have these though, as they were rescued from my locker after about half our school burned.)

And just a couple of old pics of me and some of the music that I love!(The one of me crouched down on one knee, was one my Dad took when he was teaching me how to play football! HUT! GO CHICAGO BEARS!!!Haha!! I don't think I was even 2 yet, and already a football fan!!) Then along came the late 60's/early 70's...yep, I was a lil' "flower child"!!! That's me in the middle, my sister is on the left, and "Jennie" was the little girl I was babysitting for the afternoon! Bet my Mom wishes she still had that Camero!!!!

My rating "system"? Well, it's pretty simple actually! I choose recipes VERY carefully, fully doing my "homework"! I may search for several DAYS before I find just the right one! (Hours at the least!) I choose recipes that I KNOW we will like, and most of the time (almost always! ) we are extremely happy with them! From easy-peasy to gourmet, if it made us happy, it's 5 stars in my book! *Even with personal changes! (Because everyone has their "thing"! LOL!) 4 stars would mean I had to change it quite a bit, usually because the directions didn't work and had a lot of fixing to do, or even though the ingredients sounded really good, they just didn't work very well together. 3 stars means, welp, I REALLY had to fix it!! LOL! But even still, I've never once had to pitch anything! And if you try hard, about anything can be saved! And lastly, I never give less stars than that. On (VERY) rare occaisions, we just personally didn't care for it, and that shouldn't sway others from trying it who may love it! The wonderful thing about us all, is no 2 people are alike! Thank GOD, or what a boring world it would be!

Favorite Foods:

I like just about everything, and will try almost anything at least twice...(some things just take getting used to.) I LOVE Italian, Mexican, Asian, Mediterranean....and a good, tender steak (filet is my favorite of course!!), cooked on the grill to rare, and smothered with sauteed mushrooms! Comfort food always warms the heart, too!
