about me

I live in rural west TN with my husband of over 8 years and our many, many pets. I love to garden and cook, and lately have also been experimenting with soapmaking and photography (my pets make great subjects). I enjoy old-fashioned and simple things, like sitting cross-legged in the grass with my dogs and cats all around me, walking in the poultry pens with a bucket of corn, or digging in the vegetable garden. We live right across a dead end road from my parents... which for many might be considered an unpleasant hindrance. Luckily, we all love the situation! I love my home, family, and life... the only thing we lack is a child, which we have been trying for now for well over five years, with the loss of three babies early in pregnancy. Sigh.

Favorite Foods:

Ah! I love baking breads especially! And long-cooking stews, soaps, or dumplings in cast iron! People are often surpised that a 26 year old cares so much about making old-fashioned foods, but I do indeed. My family always requests my Monkey Bread with strawberry butter for parties and holidays. I'm learning to make turkey and dressing like my mother's... and am getting pretty close. I just hope to have a family of my own to share it with someday. I love making breakfast foods like gravy and biscuits, a throw-back to my short and hectic stint as a cafe cook a few years ago (NEVER AGAIN)!
