Mashed Potatoes Zip N Steam Style

A quick and easy way to make mashed potatoes. Adapted from Zip N Steam website.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

    Peel potatoes if desired.
  2. 2
    Cut potatoes into small (1-1½ inch) pieces of roughly uniform size.
  3. 3
    Put potatoes into large Zip’n Steam™ bag and seal bag.
  4. 4
    Pat potatoes into single layer and place in microwave.
  5. 5
    Microwave on full power for 7½ minutes, or until all potatoes are tender and smash easily when pressed.

    If needed, microwave for additional 30-second intervals until all potatoes are tender.
  7. 7
    Allow bag to stand for 1 minute before handling.
  8. 8
    Carefully open bag, but leave cooked potatoes in bag.
  9. 9
    Add milk, butter, and salt to bag.
  10. 10
    Squeeze air out of bag and seal.
  11. 11
    Hold top edge of bag in one hand and mash potatoes by squeezing bag.

    If needed, add additional milk (1 Tablespoon at a time) and continue mashing until you reach your desired consistency.

    Add additional salt or butter as desired, mash until combined.

Wow this was so quick and easy!! This gets 5 stars for the shear simplicity, no cleanup and quickness in getting mashed potatoes on the table. I made these to served with a pork tenderloin and gravy meal and it turned out perfectly!! Will definitely be using the method again!!! Thanks for sharing the recipe. Made for 123 Tag.

    This was just too easy for words,and a great way to cook potatoes when time is short. I didn't bother peeling (why waste time and nutrients?),and threw a tbsp of wholegrain mustard into the mix too.Delicious!!
