Low Fat Grilled Cheese

Recipe #391125 | 12 min | 2 min prep | add private note

Sep 21, 2009

This is just a classic grilled cheese-no flavor alterations, but I was able to make it much healthier by making a few substitutions. Some of the ingredients won't register, but the total calorie count is about 150, 3 grams of fat, and 10 grams of carbohydrates.

SERVES 1 , 1 sandwich (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 2 slices pepperedge farm light wheat bread
  • 2 tablespoons smart balance butter substitute
  • 1/4 cup fat-free cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. 1
Use the smart balance to butter both sides of the bread. More or less than 2 tablespoons may be needed.
  2. 2
Heat a pan up to medium heat.
  3. 3
While the pan is heating, sandwich the cheese between the bread.
  4. 4
Place sandwich in the pan and cook each side until it is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  5. 5
    Eat and enjoy!
