Littlemafia's Transylvanian Cabbage & Noodles

That's comfort food for me. I think it's very similar to the Hungarian cabbage and noodles.

SERVES 1 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

    Mix cabbage with salt and allow to stand 1/2 hour.
  2. 2
    Squeeze dry.
  3. 3
    Heat oil in skillet and saute cabbage onion, stirring occasionally until cabbage is lightly browned and tender.

    Season with salt and pepper. Cook noodles; drain.
  5. 5
    Mix noodles with cabbage, season with salt and pepper ,heat and serve.
  6. 6
    Optional:sprinkle with carraway seeds.

Oh yeah....this is comfort food for me too! I used wide egg noodles, didn't add the optional caraway, and couldn't resist adding just a little crisp crumbled bacon. Easy to make and inexpensive - really enjoyed this - thanks for sharing the recipe!

    Pretty simple, quick, and delicious. I used fettuccine noodles, but I think next time I'll stick with egg noodles. I also added the caraway seeds which really gave this recipe a little extra oomph.

    I used broad noodles and a small head of cabbage, served with Brats. Comforting weekday meal. Made for the Aussie/NZ RS#37.

    Not a review but a comment. We call this inside-out or lazy pierogi! The noodles represent the dough. I have a similar recipe, just a matter of differences in amounts. Lee
